Coordinate Measureing Machine (CMM)

CMM inspection Capabilities AND OTHER services

 How Does Inspection Work

The part is standing to produce a point cloud. The data is then converted to a mesh file that is placed on top of the original CAD data. Computer software aids this process to find the best fit function by determining the most logical way to line up is that. This function is performed 20 times to ensure that the data is lined up properly. Now the scanned data can be compared to the original CAD model to determine the difference. Color deviation map will show with a Park service is above or below the design surface. Many other dimensional operations can also be performed at this time.

Inspection Services

After the parts properly scanned into the system and the computer has made its comparison a number of reports can be run. The formats of these reports can be as follows, interactive 3-D models, color 3-D surface deviation mapping, 2-D boundary in section deviation mapping, as well as GD&T reports from your supplied prints.

Typical Uses

CMM’s are most commonly for inspection or to perform CAD to Part analysis. Some of the applications these devices are used for is for first article inspection of production parts, mold and die inspection, or prototype part scanning just to name a few.

Part Size can be Scanned

There is no set limitation to the size of the part that can be inspected. There is only a volume that the arm can work from while in one location. As long as there is geometry that can be used to register the separate scans together then the arm can be relocated and scanning resumed.
